Youth Mentoring

One-to-one mentors for 11–18 year olds — homework, life skills and a steady adult ear.

Our Youth Mentoring programme pairs young people aged 11–18 with a trained, consistent adult mentor — someone in their corner for homework support, life skills and the kind of steady conversation that's hard to find elsewhere.

What mentoring covers

  • One-to-one homework and study support
  • Goal-setting and building confidence
  • Life skills — budgeting, communication, problem-solving
  • A safe space to talk through challenges at school or at home
  • Signposting to other BrightHope services when needed

Who it's for

Any young person aged 11–18 living in the local area. We work with young people who are struggling at school, going through a difficult time at home, or simply need a reliable adult outside their immediate family to talk to. No referral is needed.

How it works

After a short initial conversation with our coordinator, we match your young person with a mentor based on shared interests and availability. Sessions are one hour, once a week, either in person at our centre or online — whichever works best.

  • Flexible scheduling around school hours
  • All mentors are DBS checked and fully trained
  • Regular check-ins with families throughout the programme
  • Minimum six-month commitment for consistency and trust

Get started

To refer a young person or find out more, speak to a member of our team at the centre, or message us on WhatsApp. We aim to make the first match within two weeks of your initial conversation.
